Lakhamandal is a famous ancient shiv Mandir, situated in the Jaunsar- Bawar province of Dehradun District of Uttarakhand State. Visitors can see several temples in this site and along with the main attraction The Shivalinga made of graphite which shines when water poured on it.
The Place Lakhamandal is situated around 109 KM from Dehradun on Mussoorie-Yamunotri road, and if one took Vikasnagar Chakrata Road it will be around 119 KM away.
That’s not all about Lakhamandal, This place holds a historical and mythological significance, as per the legends at the time of Mahabharata Pandavas came here in Guptawaas period and took shelter (currently place is known as viratKhai) Pandavas made themselves hide through this period. Also Some says that lakhamandal is the place where Duryodhana had planned to kill pandavas in Lakshagraha (the house made of wax) and later when pandavas found this conspiracy they managed to escape through the cave.
Outside the main temple here, there are two statues about which some people believes that they are the two DoorMan and some believes that they are Arjun and Bheem or Danav (Evil) and Manav(Good).
From Dehradun Railway station you can hire a Taxi to visit Lakhamandal directly, in total it will be around 119 km from here.
Local Bus Services named (A Barkot-Purola Bus Service) is also available from Dehradun Railway Station upto lakhamandal via Mussoorie which will drop you at BarniGaad it would hardly take 20 minutes from here to reach Lakhamandal. Timing of bus starts around 6am and 2nd bus is 7.30 around and third and last bus is around 1pm).
You can also take a public bus from Dehradun Railway Station upto Mussoorie which will drop you at Mussoorie Library. And after that you have to take a public Sumo ( A shared taxi) which will further take to to Lakhamandal.
From Dehradun Railway station you can hire a Taxi to visit Lakhamandal directly, in total it will be around 108 km from here.
Local Bus Services are also available from Dehradun ISBT upto Vikasnagar which will drop you at Vikasnagar. And after that you can take a public Sumo or bus from AmarSweets which will further take to to Lakhamandal or one can also take a public shared taxi (Tata Sumo).
