The term Sahastradhara means “The Thousand fold springs”. It is one of the most popular tourist picnic spot in Dehradun which is just 15 km in distance of the center of the Dun city.
This place is also known by the name sulphur spring as it’s water drips from the limestone stalactites which makes water sulphur copious and relatively lower temperature than its surroundings.
The place is beautifully made by local peoples which consists: caves, waterfall, stepp farming and lots of ponds.
What you can find in Sahastradhara
A visitor can take a ropeway to reach at the top of the hill in Sahastradhara to enjoy the pleasant view fro the top of the hill.
It’s an gleeful man made water park, the swings and waterslides will helps to please your mind by adding fun in your outing.
You can also visit an ancient shiva temple along with Guru Dronacharya cave from Mahabharata Era, named as Drona Cave , which consists and shows a historical importance and mythological scenarios.
Also their are various restaurants and hotels around to stay, along with a gaming shop where you can play balloon shooting etc games.
When to Visit:
The best time to visit this spot is Summers, One can visit in winters too from October to March but the water is cooler these days.
How to Reach Sahastradhara
From Dehradun Railway station you can also hire a Taxi to visit Sahastradhara directly it will be around 18 km off from here.
Local Bus Services are also available from dehradun Parade Ground upto Sahastradhara (Parade Ground is just 400 mtrs away from Darshan lal chowk and 1 KM from Clock Tower).
